What is branching logic in a quiz?

Branching logic (also called conditional logic or skip logic) changes what a visitor sees next based on the answers they gave. Instead of one fixed list of questions, the quiz follows different paths: someone who wants to lose weight gets different follow-up questions than someone who wants to build muscle. In InteractiveFunnel, each branch is a path: a short sequence of steps with its own entry rule and its own ending.

How it works

Set it up in three steps.

  1. Pick the answer that changes the offer

    Select an answer on a choice step and choose “Branch to a new path”. InteractiveFunnel creates the path and its first step.

  2. Add the steps for that group

    Build the branch with the same blocks as the rest of the funnel: questions, info steps, testimonials, loaders or results.

  3. Choose where it ends

    Send people back to a step on the main path, end the branch with its own result, or link out to a checkout or product page.

Two ways into a path

The fastest way is an answer destination: the answer itself sends visitors into the path. It is ideal for one clear split, like “Often” on “How often do you feel overwhelmed?”.

For combinations, add an automatic rule after a step. Rules read any earlier answer with is, is not or includes, and can require all conditions or any of them. When several paths start after the same step, their order decides which one wins.

Paths that rejoin keep funnels maintainable

Most branches are detours: two or three extra steps for one group, then back to everyone else. Rejoining means you edit shared steps once instead of copying them into every branch.

Progress stays honest while visitors are on a branch, so the bar keeps moving forward instead of jumping or resetting.

Mark the paths that qualify a lead

Any path can be marked as qualifying. Leads whose submitted journey went through it are flagged as qualified in the leads table, in the CSV export and in analytics. It is a simple way to separate enterprise-sized prospects from everyone else.

Good to know

  • Rules read answers from choice questions. Free-text answers can be saved as variables for personalization but are not used as branching conditions.
  • Branch only where the offer or the conversation changes. If an answer only changes a word, use a variable instead.

Do I need to draw a flowchart?
No. You branch from the answer itself, and the builder shows each path as its own lane on the canvas, with an arrow where it rejoins the main path.
Can a branch rejoin the main quiz?
Yes. When you create a path you choose what happens after its last step: go back to a step on the main path, end with its own result, or send people to a link.
Can I branch on more than one answer?
Yes. Automatic rules can combine several conditions on earlier answers and match all of them or any of them.
Is branching included on every plan?
Yes. Paths, rules and qualifying paths are included on every plan, with unlimited responses.
